Description of Program
The program in Engineering Management in the department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE) was the first degree-granting program in the United States in this field. The B.S. in Engineering Management is fully ABET accredited and the M.S. in Engineering Management has been certified by the American Society of Engineering Management which was also founded at this institution. The Engineering Management program includes contributions from faculty with a wide range of both academic and practical industrial experience. Students gain knowledge in the concepts and theory underling the contemporary techniques in the management and operation of technology-based organizations as well as how to apply those principles in real-life situations. It is a field that focuses on the convergence of engineering, management, and technology in high technology environments. There is a growing need for engineers who can see the big picture, effectively interact and communicate with people, appreciate the business ramifications of decisions, thrive on ambiguity, effectively work in teams, and apply critical thinking skills to solve real-world problems. Engineering Management develops leaders who have these skills and are comfortable with the language and methods of engineering, business, and technology. We have outstanding facilities for research and for providing educational content both locally and at a distance, as we offer a very robust online Masters and Doctor of Philosophy program as well as graduate certificates. (For more information on our distance options, contact us at emgt@mst.edu.)

Funding
Funding is available on a competitive basis for M.S. thedis and Ph.D. students. Students should contact faculty in their area of interest to see if those faculty have research projects to work on with them and funds available for research assistantships. If a faculty member decides to fund a student, they will notify the department. U.S. students are eligible for loans and aid as qualified. Please complete your FASFA by the deadlines.
