Bhanumathi Tenneti, a Missouri University of Science and Technology graduate, has been named a National Women of Color Technology All-Star in recognition of her career and leadership accomplishments.
Tenneti will receive the award during the 13th annual National Women of Color Conference, held Oct. 23-25 in Dallas. Now a network planner for Sprint Nextel in Overland Park, Kan., Tenneti received her master's degrees in mechanical engineering and engineering management from Missouri S&T in 2000 and 2006, respectively.
The National Women of Color Technology Awards recognize the accomplishments of minority women in the fields of technology, engineering and science. The annual conference provides a forum to discuss key issues in U.S. job growth diversity and the critical shortage of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and the business sector; creates an environment for professional, career, and personal development; and fosters networking opportunities.
Tenneti has been with Sprint Nextel since April 2006. She also served as an intern for the company. While at Missouri S&T, she worked with Missouri Enterprise, a Rolla-based business incubator, to develop a "rapid response manufacturing system" framework to help firms more quickly create new products in small quantities.
Graduate and professional education at Missouri S&T prepares students for leadership in research, teaching, the application of knowledge and professional practice.
